Cumbria Here I Come

Anthorn

Gave Misty a short walk on the marsh at Anthorn this afternoon about 45 minutes before sunset and was surprised to see this view.  Afterwards we had a quick trip to the outskirts of Cockermouth where apparently things are starting to get back to some kind of normality as much as they can be.   Roads are beginning to open but many remain shut and will do so for many many months.  The landslide on the A591 nr Thirlmere is unbelievable and you have to feel for the people in Glenridding who have been cut off.

I really feel for the people starting to return to their homes many of whom are without insurance.   Hopefully the flood recovery appeal will help them.   At times like this communities really pull together helping each other.  Apparently Carlisle United players were in Carlisle today helping in the clean up!  Raining again.....
