Olympic Torch in Redditch
This morning the Olympic Torch Relay came to Redditch. This was fortunate timing for us, having only just returned from our holiday yesterday.
We positioned ourselves at a suitable looking spot along the torch's route, and shortly before the main torch procession arrived we noticed lots of people gathering around a young lady carrying an unlit torch. At this point we realized that by chance we had picked one of the torch handover spots.
I took some pleasing shots of the torch being handed over, but my favourite image is this one of the new torch bearer about to set off. I like it because of the smile on her face and the pleasure shown by all the onlookers, especially the young boy with his arms in the air.
The torch bearer is Amy Riley, age 16. You can read about her impressive achievements here.
