A train with a view
As you can see from the blip it was a nice sunny day today. At least it was until about 4.30pm when we had to run out and quickly take the washing in from the 'whirly' as a heavy shower arrived. We could hear the rain clearly on the conservatory roof and the sprint into the garden was on ...
Earlier we had taken our usual Sunday pre-prandial wander with Maeve the Deerhound. I had noticed that the grass verge on the nearby country road had been mown at the end of the week, so we went up to look and see if the bridle path had also been dealt with. Indeed it has, so we have been able to enjoy a nice little country walk down the bridle path towards the shore today.
As we arrived at the top of the path the farmer arrived in the field to spray the cereal crop. We said hello as he prepared the equipment at the back of the tractor and grabbed a couple of tractor shots too.
As we got about three quarters of the way down the path the train appeared from behind the houses at Westhaven and began to pick up speed along this open stretch of line where the passengers get a wonderful open view of the North Sea and if they look to their right they can see the Fife coast in the distance. I decided to try for a shot and here it is.
The train is heading right to left in the picture and has not long left Carnoustie station on its way to Aberdeen. At the bottom of the field in the picture there is a road, and beyond that some open ground before the railway line. At this point the railway line is close to the shore. The train is obscuring the level crossing which we use to get to the beach and then go to the right along to Westhaven and the Fishermen's huts where there were a lot of people to say hello to today as they sat enjoying the warmth outside their huts :-)
