to be five

To be five years old seems to involve running around the garden wearing three fairy dresses, winter boots, glitter all over one's face (including lips), three random tattoos on one's leg and yelling "I can fly" and then proceeding to leap endlessly off the wall. In fairness for a split second it was quite a good impression of flying!

Being significantly older than five seems to involve, washing, then folding endless laundry, preparing endless meals, putting away endless stuff and filling in endless slips requested by various schools.

But being five means that tonight she will be tucked up in bed while the significantly older ones will be in Manchester listening to Hugh Laurie and the fabulous Copper Bottom Band.

There has to be some perks to not being able to run around the garden in fairy dresses no longer!
