Day181: - Rocky
After what seems like weeks of dreary, wet and grey weather it was a joy to stroll around Beaumount Park bathed in sunshine, even if it was a tad breezy. The dog was grateful for her psychedelic coat I am sure. Even the dampest of spirits could not fail to be raised by the freshness of the air, and the last of the leaves shining like gold in the trees.
The park was built on a rocky and precipitous site, so a walk always involves much descending and climbing of winding and slippery steps. There are little staircases built into the side of the cliff leading to vertigo-inducing arches, ledges and balconies. Every time I go I spot something new. Today we headed for the disused railway line that used to bring Victorians to visit the park for their health and to "elevate their minds"; nowadays it is a bridleway, but after all the recent rain, today it was river - I have never seen that in all my years of visiting the park. We followed it (the dog was not impressed) until it found an escape route, and tumbled down a bank towards yet another steep path and flowed away. We had our own little secret cascade.
The sky is now suspiciously dark so I think we have had our morning in the sun.
