As my husband had an afternoon Addenbrookes hospital. appointment, we decided to go into Cambridge during the morning. We started with breakfast in British Homes Stores; well he had breakfast, I just had coffee. I cannot eat bacon and eggs without bread or potatoes. They have perfectly good gluten-free hash browns, but cook them in a fryer with other non-gluten-free items so contaminating them.
We were going over to the University Centre and they always have gluten-free sandwiches, not today! I had a piece of gluten-free coffee cake; it was rather stodgy. We did some shopping and then caught the Park and Ride bus to Addenbrookes. Marks and Spencer always have gluten-free sandwiches, sorry out of stock! Starbucks usually have gluten-free savoury items; not today. They did offer me a chocolate brownie; I am beginning to think that everyone believes Coeliacs only want a chocolate brownie. Costa sometimes has gluten-free wraps, but as there were about twenty people in the queue in front of me I decided not to bother.
Today’s picture is of my husband, sitting on the concourse at Addenbrookes with his Starbucks coffee.
