What are these?

A long day of walking around Nice. We went to the top of the castle park overlooking the port, passing through wonderful markets stocked with so much fresh fruit and vegetables...such a choice! But I was puzzled by these as I have no idea what they are? The labels said Persimmon but that didn't help much and my little phrase book did not include Kaki.
