Sally Mair - Loving life

Hamman

As the weather was a little unsettled we visited a Hamman today, which is where you can have a traditional Morrocan steam bath and massage. This is nothing like the turkish bath you have on holiday in Turkey, but  the genuine experience as used by the local people and right in the middle of the Medina. It takes just over an hour, women in a different area to men.
I began by changing into a pair of disposable paper pants.... then started with a 15 minute steam in a beautiful, but very steam filled room with marble benches and a domed marble ceiling. A little surreal as I was the only person there at that time of day and it was all very quiet.
I was next led by my attendant to another room with massage tables and exfoliated within an inch of my life.
Next I was rinsed off  and led into another room of massage tables and given a very through full body and very well oiled massage.... turning over half way through was an adventure as I was so slippery, I almost slid off the table!
A final rinse off to remove the massage oil and back through the curtains to change and relax in a quiet room over a glass of mint tea.
Highly recommended! Extra pic of the same reception room and the doorway between the changing room and the steam area.
