Think Before You Drop
We volunteered this morning, for the second time, taking part in a beach clean at Churston Beach, Brixham. This is the beach after we had finished. Out of picture are some tents and unauthorised campers who we couldn't clean up. 60% of beach litter is composed of plastic items and this was the case. Also in the top 10 are polystyrene pieces, crisp wrappers, string and cord, plastic bottles and pieces of net. We didn't find anything unusual like a life size fake donkey, a plastic skeleton, half a sofa, a set of teeth (probably my dad's lost many years ago in the sea), or a plastic pink thong, all found on last year's national beach clean day. We did though find a pair of shoes.
I must go down to the sea again
to the lonely sea and sky
I left my shoes and socks there
I wonder if they're dry

Afterwards we walked into Brixham and rewarded ourselves with coffee and tea cakes. Our consumption of teacakes and clotted cream teas has reached worrying levels since we moved here. To round off a good day the Red Arrows flew over our garden this afternoon en route to the Plymouth Armed Forces Day. Mrs Mover said she had organised it for our wedding anniversary which is just around the corner.
