'Stokeeintinny'
Went for a walk on this grey evening round the village lanes of Stoke-in Teignhead, and part of the coast path at Labrador Bay. We approached the village from a high path on our return and it was good to see it laid out waiting for us, especially the 13th Century thatched pub, the Church House Inn where a pint awaited us. It has many Grade II listed buildings, mostly thatched and is twinned with Trevieres, Calvados, France. The church has the oldest screen in the country. On the village sign is a cirl bunting, a mascot of the village, and these can be found at Labrador Bay and other parts of this coast. We saw them last week at Labrador Bay, and a family of stoats on the coastal path. Nothing much has changed here in this idyllic village.
