Blip number 500

One feels the need to find something a little different for number 500.

Here is my attempt. It is a Ginkgo biloba or Maidenhair tree. Fossils of this tree go back 270 million years. It is a native of China and can be very long lived.
The leaves turn a lovely yellow in Autumn. They seem to stay on the tree a long time and then fall suddenly.

The leaves are unique among seed plants in being fan shaped. ( See today Extra).
Extract from the tree can be found in many health food shops and in many countries are prescribed but doubts are often expressed about the efficacy.
