Gettin' Ready
The city hosted a free winter storm preparedness workshop this afternoon. We may be leaping from hard drought to huge El Nino rains, and various agencies were on hand to discuss strategies and techniques to prep for possible flooding. The big draw was free sandbags--each household could fill ten bags to take home to keep in case of emergency. That doesn't make a very big wall, but I think it's enough to keep the water out of our laundry room, which has flooded in the past. Keep emergency kits in your house and car, pay attention to forecasts and warnings, and have a plan.
As for the photo, I was interested in the moment the dumptruck opened its rear gate to let out a new load of sand. The artifacts are a bonus. I have no idea what caused those green zooms, but I think they're wonderful.
