A small tribute to the great Gerry Anderson - creator of Space:1999, Thunderbirds & Captain Scarlet - who revealed yesterday that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease 18 months ago.

I was shocked when I read about it in the paper today, as his work is still a great influence not only to me but also a great many people around the world since The Adventures of Twizzle was first broadcast in 1957.

Very sad news indeed.
