Flood Plain

River Aire 15

It was relatively dry for our early morning walk up Noor Hill from the top of Wilsden but it was quite dull and too dark for photographs.

Later we had to go to Skipton for a couple of books ordered for my church 'Book shop in a Box'.

Big mistake the traffic going into Skipton was dreadful due to a 4 way traffic control for roadworks on the edge of the town centre.

All the way along the Aire Valley Bypass we could see evidence of the flood plain in action. Last Monday on our moorland walk we could see the floods looking like a large lake in the valley bottom. There is far less water now but as you can see much of the land is still under water as here near Silsden. The weather was sunshine and showers with lots of rainbows both on the way and back when we stopped to take this picture.
I thought my one river series should have a shot of the common winter sight of this flooding of the low lying land along the Aire Valley. Thank fully no one has built here.

Made time for a coffee and cake - yes you can have too much chocolate! - at Cake Hole in Cavendish Court whilst in Skipton.

Much colder and more to come! Stay warm Uk blippers.
