I was searching... down a one way street

ABC of Troon....

C is for Church Street and Cookie Jar.

I Blipped the Cookie Jar once before here two years ago, before it moved to it's present spot.

When I was little, this was a Sewing shop - and it has also been a child's boutique.  The boutique moved round the corner in the opposite direction from Cookie Jar, but not quite the same shop.

Cookie Jar opened up originally in Portland Street just round the corner.  and did very nicely thank you very much.

They make their own cup cakes daily, and tablet, and scones, and gingerbread; and have the full range of "olde worlde" type sweets - bon bons, rhubarb and custards, Liquorice,  And stock a whole pile of American styled candies too.

In it's original inception it was a Bakers, so I imagine the smells that emanate from the kitchen must be pretty similar.  I'm thinking back but, I really can't remember that.

What I do remember, is the wool shop; it was more a haberdashery - I remember walking in, and not being able to see over the top of the piles of rolls of material.   You could work your way around a path between the rolls, but I think there was always a possibility that if you crouched down, you could quite happily hide there until the shopkeeper left the shop.

There was a lady who worked in there with bouncy black hair.  I remember that - like a Sixtie's lady.  Wonder who it was.?
