Oystercatcher
Last day of our 3 days camping weekend. Windy today but still warm and fine. A big breakfast cookup and then to the estuary to escape the wind and enjoy the sun, and digging big holes in the sand.
We didn't make to Spain (which is where you'd end up if you dug straight thru) and we moved back to kites. Awesome in the gusty conditions, but tricky too. I took the chance to photograph this South Island Pied Oystercatcher, she'd laid her eggs on the sand, pretty much on the high tide mark - they are crazy, but fantastic, birds.
Then lunch, then home. A brilliant weekend - great to be away with you guys ;-)
Just backblipped a couple of goodies.
