inspiration all around us

inspired by a local plant nursery

We had planned to go to a local plant nursery this afternoon but then it rained - tropical rain! We are so pleased we live on a hill! However, once I have made up my mind to do something, I am not easily put off, so once the rain stopped, we headed for Woodlands Nurseries just six miles away, navigating two rather large floods on the way.

I had a good look round, avoiding the puddles on the paths, and found a lovely section called 'orphan plants'. I chose a few to to give a good home to. Next to them I found some healthy herb plants to put in my herb garden.

I particularly wanted to find a candelabra primula for our new boggy area and asked a member of staff for help. She found this primula Bulleyana which, having flowered, had many seed cases. She told me to sow the seeds in the green, cut the leaves off to encourage new growth and divide the plant in the spring. Such good advice and a healthy plant, all for £2.99.

They certainly know how to look after their customers, as well as their plants. We will be back.
