From the dark corner.....

April Showers?

I like old churches. The Auld Kirk of Ayr (St John the Baptist) is older than most. A lot of the gravestones lean at impossible angles like rotten teeth. One day I'll get to look around the inside. Churches unfortunately, especially little out of the way ones are locked up for security out of Mass times. As it is, people use the path through the grounds as a shortcut to the flats/houses by the river from the shops during the day. It's fairly peaceful most of the time. I confess I wouldn't like to be there in the middle of the night. However, it's the living you need to be afraid of, not the dead as Jeremiah O'Leary (Mom's late father who I never met) would say. Apparently, he didn't like perfume either, and would say that if you washed properly, you wouldn't need perfume to hide the smell!

I'm glad lots of things have changed over the years, although not everything. I was spoilt for choice with pictures of this place to choose from. I stuck with this old gateway in the end so am more out that in but I expect I'll show you more another day.

April Showers? Well yes. It poured with rain before I got there, brightened up quickly, so much so that the pavement even dried but five minutes later, the rain came again. While I am writing this, the sun has come out despite the fact I put all the lights on because it went so dark twenty minutes ago.

It's certainly like April shower weather and that is the track to accompany this photo. Dad used to sing it whenever it rained even if it was November. It drove me mad and I would roll my eyes skyward and sigh....

So here you are - April Showers
