Worth its weight in paint?

Today we visited the Ai Weiwei exhibition at the Royal Academy. It was fascinating to see what he has achieved in the face of persecution by the Chinese Government. The commentaries really helped us to understand what his work represents: why a huge rolling wave of metal rods are his testament to the 2008 earthquake where the shoddy construction was to blame for the death of 000s of school students for example. Here are his pots, he poses the question- are the Neolithic pots worth more on their own or dipped in industrial paint as a piece of contemporary art?
