Empty (almost)

Yesterday's packing extravaganza was topped off by a splendid evening; the Minx had bought some Prosecco to cheer me up after we'd cleared out so many of my clothes although, actually, I was feeling pretty good about the whole experience.

This morning, I needed to head straight home to be there for the chaps who were coming to actually take the boxes away and the photo above is how the living room looked after they'd done their job. It's going to be odd living like this for the next few weeks.

But I didn't hang around to see how it felt: a few hours in the office and then I headed to down to drop my car off with the Minx before hopping on the train to Liverpool. Tonight, Bob and I were off to see ABC playing the whole of 'The Lexicon of Love' with the Southbank Sinfonia, conducted by Anne Dudley.

We had a few drinks at the Philharmonic (pub), a bite to eat at Host, and arrived at the Philharmonic (hall) just as the band were coming on stage. I'll put a full review on Gigtails later on but the first half was a disappointment, to be honest. Martin Fry should have taken some advice on what constituted their post-Lexicon greatest hits. Bob and I slipped out to the bar.

The second half was much better, though. The songs from the Lexicon remain as strong as ever - there's nothing dated about them - and Fry's vocal performance was great; clear and strong. So, a disappointing start but a spectacular finish.
