Dampness

I put off walking the dogs for as long as I could today, due to the heavy rain, but by mid-afternoon they were getting restless and the rain appeared to be easing so we headed off to the common. It turned out to only be short break in weather however and by the time we'd parked it was tipping down again. Part the way round we bumped into a woman (whose name I've never known) and her spaniel, Bracken, who we used to see regularly when we walked at Iron Hill but hadn't seen for several years. Hence we had a lot to catch up on and so we stood there in the torrential rain doing just that - until we could take it no more and said our goodbyes. Pictured is one of the many bubbly products of rain water (and sap?) at the foot of trees I noticed on the way round. Not sure if there's a name for this phenomenon? Unless it's cuckoo spit?

In other news, I took Basil back to the vet about his skin condition this evening. There's no easy answer to it but we're going to put him on daily steroids and antibiotics for the next two weeks to see if things improve and then take a view.
