A nice bike ride to Isubilo today, have been a bit lazy these past few days by getting the bus!
Arranged a few interviews for today and tomorrow and then went to go into the community to meet my first interview of the day.
I was escorted by my good friend Mabel who was my translator as well as great company.
We arrived at the house of the client who was an underweight baby to massive smiles from the grandparents (pictures above, who is missing an ear!) and a cute, chubby little girl. They were happy to be involved in my interview and were very animated in their responses.
I enjoyed nshima with the best Zambian women I know (Miniver and Mabel) in their home. I helped make the lunch and just loved seeing where they live. Once hairy moment was when a rat ran out across the room! These girls are wonderful role models and are not really like the typical Zambian women but are just so much fun to be with. I love them!
We then made out way back to Isubilo for the afternoons activities where I did more interviews and catching up with the kids.
Before biking home, I popped into my old friends house who I was very involved with in 2010. She was discharged from the programme because she got pregnant and I wanted to see her and her baby again. I struggled when I got there, because all she asked was what had I brought her from the UK and if I could give her things. This is quite tough because I can see they are in much need but there is no relationship there, she just wants things from me and I find that hard.
Looking forward to a skype with my bestest friend!
