Spectre - a mini adventure!
We have had a mini adventure again into Bradford on the bus.
Unexpectedly getting a night off from Panto rehearsals and thanks to Mambo we went to see 'Spectre', the new James Bond film at the IMAX in the National Media Centre.
It was fantastic especially on the big IMAX screen.
The heavy rain coincided with our setting off for the bus but we got into town in time for a cupola overlooking Centenary Square and the City Hall. Great watching the fountains in city park and especially a young boy determined to get himself and his school book thoroughly wet in the water jets!
We hadn't realised that the new shopping centre was opening today so had a brief look around The Broadway. It was very busy but has to be welcome as it has taken 11 years to materialise. Since first being propsed and after the initial demolition of the old shops things ground to a halt and Bradford was left with 'The Big Hole'.
Also it is apparently the first time in over twenty years the Bradford has had a department store ( presumably that was Brown and Muff/ Rackhams).
I knew for other blippers that there was a series of sand art sculptures around the city set to coincide with this opening. I managed to find four of the five in the limited time we had.
The one with the Alhambra theatre and The Wool Exchange had suffered a bit from being in the open during today's downpour and were undergoing repairs but were recognisable as two of Bradford's great buildings together with the one I today's blip.
Returning home we could hear the fireworks but not see them. A very wet and murky Bonfire night but we had a good time!
