Raining Rough

(Having big problems with internet...)

Began day in raining Almodôvar, got rather chilled and feeling increasingly rough... Walked out to the "Roman" bridge there, past the usual quota of dilapidated buildings here in the Alentejo.

Now in Beja - founded by Julius Caesar in 48 BC and named Julia Pax in honour of the peace accord between Rome and the Lusitanians; apparently Beja is a corruption of Pax. Couldn't stay in the hotel we wanted because the town is full of NATO folk on manoeuvres, but this one is fine.
