Diary of an Edinburgher

Start the day with a laugh

A dreich day, but it started with a laugh!

I was in bed, Archie on top of me, enjoying some pats and back scratching. He put his head back at a particularly pleasurable scratch, when suddenly he noticed the lampshade hanging from the ceiling (a lovely old painted glass one belonging to my granny) as it always does. He gave a couple of barks at this 'new' strangely threatening object, looked slightly terrified, and ran out of the room! I nearly choked laughing. He soon came back in and took up his position again as if nothing had happened, and it was not mentioned again...

Bailey's mum came to take Archie up the Hill this morning, and returned them an hour or so later, tired and drookit. Bailey was staying here while J went into town with her sister. The Apple Store was mentioned...

I had all the doors closed - I'm not silly - so they only had access to the hall and the kitchen. Tired or not, they then charged around for ages, scattering the rugs up the walls.

I was sitting in the kitchen reading my book (I'm very excited to be going to meet the author, a hero of mine) until they had dried off enough to go into the lounge. Bailey stood at the lounge door staring at it for ages, but it did not open. They were both desperate to lie down in comfort by the time I deemed it safe to decamp to the sofa.

This evening we are going to 'Carmen Unwrapped'. I booked it ages ago, and I'm not sure what to expect. I like surprises...

Archie helped me choose a new ringtone. He seemed most taken with puzzled by the 'Duck'.
