Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie meets an orangutan

After yesterday's misty moisty day, we're back to sunshine and blue skies. [Edit: The mist descended in the afternoon] . So Archie and I set off to Summerhall, taking the scenic route under the trees instead of round by the school.

We met Brodie and his mum. Brodie is the one dog in the world that Archie is not absolutely delighted to meet, because Brodie bullied Arch when he was a wee puppy. However, Brodie's mum and I have no such history, and it was nice to catch up with her news while the two dogs ignored each other.

There were banners outside Summerhall advertising an upcoming beer festival. Except that there was a spelling mistake, which I had to point out to the girl at the desk, who couldn't care less - though she did not actually say so. You'd think, when printing a great big banner, you'd check the spelling. Or am I being too pedantic? Which poses the question - If nobody notices (or cares), is it still wrong spelling?

We came back via the school, so Archie wasn't off the lead all morning. Gosh, we made slow progress! Him stopping to sniff and piddle at every bush and post (how does he manage that?) and me just stopping every few yards.

However, JR took him up the Hill this afternoon for a proper gallop.

While I was at Summerhall, I took advantage of there being no people in the courtyard, and did something I've been meaning to do, without witnesses. I popped Archie into the arms of the big green (blue?) orangutan.

I wonder why there is a big blue (green?) orangutan in the courtyard. Archie just wonders why he has to sit in it... He is so trusting, it was an awkward sit for him, but he didn't budge.

What a wee star he is!
