Tops of trees

The day started grey and misty and I hoped it would be clear enough for our morning in Stover Country Park with the local bird watching group. Fortunately it just stayed overcast and we wandered slowly around the park delighting in the autumnal colours, smells and birds.

These Cormorants perched on the top of a Birch tree caught my eye at the beginning of the walk.  The extra photo shows a Blue Tit, Coal Tits and a Nuthatch all feeding from a bird feeder that was swinging around at a great rate as various birds flew on and off.  Other birds spotted include Kingfisher, Goldcrests, Mistle Thrush, Starlings, Blackbirds, Pochard and Grebe.

Another nice location to revisit. On another note yesterday's blip of the cream coloured slime mound - it's all black now which I think is the spores being released from the fruiting body.
