Golden threads ......

........ in the late afternoon light

We had a trip out to a new (to us) nature reserve ........ so pleased we did ..... it's a beautiful place. It was arable land ........ but it is now being returned to fenland ...... complete with reed beds & shallow meres. It was so lovely in the late afternoon light ...... there were lots of small birds settling into the reeds for the night ....... we watched a pair of March Harriers hunting ........ also  Kestrel hovering then diving down for its supper.

The mist then started rising ........ in fact at one point we were almost enveloped in fog! We then stood engrossed as a huge flock of Starlings appeared in & out of the mist ....... first time I've really had the chance to watch so many performing a Murmuration ........ an amazing sight! :-))

Extras: Rising mist & Starlings in the mist ...... unfortunately I couldn't get a very good shot of the Murmuration because if the fog ...... better luck next time I hope ...... we will definitely be going back!!
