Halloween Fly-past
Back into the routine of working at Earls Colne on a Saturday. Unfortunately it was a grotty flying day with mist and fog to start, which changed into haze and low cloud in our local area. We found out that it was blue sky and sunshine (with haze!) at other local airfields. We had a couple of instructors brave the weather with students but that was it.
Thinking that the day would be a washout with nothing exciting, not even a witch or 2 in the ATZ exercising their brooms!! Therefore we were delighted to receive a phone call from the Red Arrows informing us that they would be flying through our ATZ at just after 1545 enroute to Twickenham and the Rugby World Cup Final. The weather was still hazy and low cloud with the sun desperate to break through when we got our radio call – ‘Earls Colne – Red Arrows’ … We were lucky enough to see them fly through our zone and I managed to get a couple of snaps – admittedly poor ones due to the awkward weather conditions!
No Witches in our ATZ this Halloween … just 9 cheeky Hawks nipping through!!
