Back home
The mists were swirling in while we had our breakfast, but the sun was trying to appear... And so we headed back to the House of Bruar to have another browse. My stamina for browsing didn't last long, and so I made my way to the big comfy leather sofas around a big table full of today's newspapers and a selection of glossy magazines, in front of an open (gas) fire. It's usually full of old chaps, fed up with shopping. I read all the RWC reports - I'm going to miss that! Though I will not miss grown men referring to the ground as 'the floor'...
Back to Pitlochry on the A9 to pick up Archie's really good towel that we'd left in the bathroom. I couldn't resist another shot of Blair Atholl Cathle (thanks, janeanne) then across country to the middle of nowhere to pop in on a schnauzer event. Thank goodness for the satnav, though we must remember not to put in 'shortest', but 'fastest'. We were taken along wee winding single lane farm roads - not good for a car sick dog.
We knew we'd arrived at the right place - there was a huge barn, and from inside it we could hear loads of schnauzery barking! It was fun, we met lots of dogs, including some big boisterous giants. We didn't stay for any of the competitions, as we still had a long way to go. There was a photographic competition, so Archie definitely would have won something there - I do have a few to choose from!
We arrived back in Edinburgh in time to pop up Blackford Hill to give Archie a wee romp and see a lovely sunset. He's been such a good boy. What a great weekend of culture, scenery, dog walks, fab food, beautiful weather... and the All Blacks won! Perfect.
Many thanks for stars and hearts and comments!
