The Contour..

..Road book of Scotland. Another of my "little gems", and a different sort of map. This book lists 500 road trips in Scotland, and shows the elevations along the way. I'm not sure of age, possibly 1930's? Mine is the 23 edition, checking on ebay (where these are on sale for around £10), the 9th edition was published in 1907/8. Aimed at the tourist, it gives various lists of information, Antiquities, Battlefields, Lochs, Waterfalls, Road passes, Mountains, Ferries and the charges, and more, before starting the routes proper. Fun to dip into.. There are 3 volumes covering England.

Been down the hall again for the afternoon. Did a second coat to all the walls in the main hall, the sides of the stage, and back wall, and the library walls. Others cleaned in preparation, stained the window frames, varnished the window sills, and rubbed down and undercoated the skirting boards and door frames in the passageway, lobby, and hall. A great effort by all..

Just need another coat in the library, fix the ceiling a bit and emulsion white (2 coats), and gloss all the woodwork. Oh, and another couple of coats to the stage back wall. Should be done then, and ready for the new curtains on Thursday.
