Day 148: - Pumpkin Trail
One of my favourite days out of the year, the Pumpkin Trail at Bolton Abbey. Such a simple, low tech event, it does my heart good to see the kids thrilled at finding a sparkly pumpkin or a plastic witch hanging in a tree, and solving the puzzles. Lots of the children were dressed up today, and everybody seemed happy & relaxed.
The trees were putting on their final show, and there were some nice muted colours in places too - see extras.
The dog was aghast at having to walk for an hour. We stopped for a packed lunch and then intended to walk over to the ruins and the stepping stones - complete refusal from the mutt, she wouldn't get out of the car again, the minx. So we are at home again and she is full of calming medication as it might be a rough night for her.
Tomorrow I meet an idol of mine, an honest to goodness real-life hero and adventurer. I can hardly contain my excitement.
