Goring by Sea
For all our years living in the South, we've never been to Goring by Sea, or heard of this church either. It's a plain modern little building, the English Martyr's Church, situated on a little service road. But inside is the most amazing copy of the Sistine Chapel Ceiling, two thirds the original size, painted by local sign writer, Gerrry Bevans. Although its a fantastic sight, helped by mirrored trays placed around the church so you can view the ceiling without straining your neck, I much prefer the modern stained glass. This was my favourite in beautiful sea colours.
If you are interested you can see more at http://www.english-martyrs.co.uk/index.html. Well worth a visit.
