Pumpkin Carving Night
Before the carvers (son-in-law Doug, daughter Karen, and Merrick) arrived, I had emptied the pumpkins of all their guts, and made a pasta dish, grilled some garlic bread, and cooked some fresh green beans.
We ate quickly, and out came the knives...tiny little Halloween ones for Merrick, and kitchen paring knives for the rest of us.
Merrick and Mar-mar (Grandma) double-teamed his gourd, and the rest of us did our own. I think both Karen and Doug have that look of satisfaction on their faces...like..."Woo-hoo...yeah baby...we're pumpkin carvers!"
I put the pumpkin guts out behind my fence, hoping that the five deer that have visiting our neighbors apple tree would eat them
