STEAMED UP
The weather diverted our day today. The intention was to go along the coast to Teesside to gather some photos – but the fog and mist got so bad it was hard to see anything ! A move inland provided little difference, until we dropped into Grosmont to spend time at the railway station on the grand North York Moors Railway.
This train was 40 minutes late departing for Whitby, much to the annoyance of both driver and fireman, seen here amongst the smoke. I guess this is where all the fog is coming from.
Steam locomotive 76079 was built in 1957 at Horwich works. A standard British Railways design by engineer Robert Riddles, it was on full service today.
