Candy Coloured Rocks
We took the ferry to the Isle of Wight today and toured the west of the Island on the breezy top deck of the open top bus. We alighted and spent time at most of the stops, the best of which was the world famous Needles chairlift which transported us from the cliff-top above Alum Bay down to the beach below and on the way we had a bird's eye view of the multi-coloured sand cliffs of Alum Bay and the stunning turquoise waters that stretch as far as the eye can see. We got off the chair lift on the beach, had a closer look at these amazing coloured rocks and took a short boat ride round the Needles Rocks and Trinity Lighthouse.
Back on the bus again to Yarmouth, explored the historic town, and after a quick bite in The Gossips' Cafe it was back on the ferry again and back to base.
Another lovely day over all too soon. Sadly I didn't get to see a friend and her family who live on the Island as her Father died yesterday and even though it was expected it was nevertheless a great sadness - saying a final farewell to Opa, a brave and dignified old Soldier of 94.
