Cape Cod Firestarter!

Terry suprised me with a lovely present today....this amazing little wonder!  This is a Cape Cod Fire Starter....he remembers his father using one when they used to spend time on Cape Cod when he was a kid!

The idea is that you put lamp oil in the container, place the porous round wand in there to soak.   You don't need paper or kindling apparently, just light the wand, place in the firebox with the wood and leave it for 10 minutes or so!   This will be a god send in the coming weeks as i have to put on a fire each morning!

It's also such a fabulous looking pot!
