Peakeen Ridge

What an interesting day. First I back to school where I had been invited to a special ceremony.  Next year is the Centenary of the Easter Rising and it is a very big deal. (See link for events and explanations of a very complicated period).  In preparation for the commemoration all schools are to receive a copy of the Proclamation and a Tricolour and today was the day that they arrived in St James. Two naval officers and an Army private turned up to do the honours. It was a very relaxed and low key affair, the three members of the Defence Forces very pleasant and child friendly. The Proclamation was read out with help from one of the pupils, and the folded flag (not to be unfurled until next Match) was handed over to two other pupils. The children were then invited to ask questions - what do you do when its your birthday on the boat? What weapons do you have? How old are you? Did you come in a tank?
I then sped home, collected the men and off we went down west to meet up with Tony who had spotted something interesting and archaeological on the mountain and did we want  look? We did. It involved a very pleasant hike up to the passage tomb - great colours going, as patches of light illuminated different areas. The interesting thing was lurking within the tomb - very hard to get at but clearly seen - a  largish circle deliberately hewn  out of rock within the chamber. Any ideas??

What a great response to inquiries re reinstating a Derelict day. I think it will have to be sunday but here's a bold suggestion - should you do something wonderfully derelict on another day of the week why not just tag it and all entries, whichever day they were taken/submitted, can be viewed together on the sunday- a sort of gathering-in day?
Let's have a trial go this sunday then get into the swing next week. Tags:  DS1, derelictsunday, derelictsunday1 .Spread the news please!
