Looking out from Whinlatter.
Spent a very enjoyable day at Whinlatter Forest Park, which is not far from where we are staying. The best day's weather so far, with sunshine and blue skies.
We sat outside on the terrace of the Siskin Cafe, with the customary coffee and scone prior to setting out on the green trail to the summit of Seat How.
Most of the track up was through woodland and I began to wonder if it had been the right decision given the good weather. Eventually we reached Seat How and were rewarded with lovely views across to Derwentwater, Skiddaw and the ranges to the west. Despite the pleasant weather the atmospheric conditions were a little hazier than of late.
This shot was taken on the more open downward section of the journey which gave much better views of the surrounding fells, including being able to see the row of houses where our cottage was situated.
We had enough time after coming down from Whinlatter to visit the Alfred Wainwright exhibition in Keswick Town museum. And what a marvellous exhibition it was. That man is a man after my own heart, the great outdoors, especially the Lakes as well as being an honorary Geographer and a superb drawer or maps and a fine artist.
