Wollaton Park and it's inhabitants

Apologies for not posting in here for far too long.  Been a strange year so far.  I thought I was going to made redundant in the latest round of jobs cuts.  My post was disestablished and I was ring fenced to one of the remaining jobs.  Went for interview on Thursday last week and found out I had been successful on  Friday.

Last week I asked where I could go that was different to take some photographs.  My Dad reminded me of Wollaton Hall.  A place we used to visit a lot as a family when I was younger.  Thinking I would be in need of a little family time, I was expecting bad news about the job!  I suggested we visit there today.  What a fabulous time we had, a real trip down memory lane for everyone in more than one way.

Mum was delighted to find that in the industrial Museum site they had four Brough Superior Motorcycles.  She had worked there before she was married and often told us stories about how they had these on display in the canteen.

Dad was chatting to a tour guide who let him into a roped off are to reunite him with an ancient pump he had used during his time as a fireman at Shakespeare Street Fire Station in Nottingham.  He had been part of a display team who had dressed up in period costume for some fund raiser or another.  I actually have the photograph and have promised him I will dig it out and copy it for him to donate to the museum.

I spent a wonderful day with my family and on the walk back to the car through the parkland  was lucky enough to see a number of dear including this wonderful specimen in then photograph.  A few minutes after this was taken, he took off and defended his female entourage from another male - well it is that time of year.

Ended the day at my Sisters and discovered that Wollaton Hall was used as "Wayne Manor" in "Batman, the Dark Knight Rises".  Trivia that I was unaware off.

Got some excellent photographs of all of the above and am turning in feeling that I have a had a very full and delightful day.
