My idea of a hero

Last night we went to a performance by Shane Koyczan, the young Canadian spoken word poet.  He was outstanding, made me laugh and brought me to tears.  Every poem had so much depth, so much emotion and passion, so much beautiful use of language.  What a talent!  My idea of a hero is someone like Shane, someone who has fought through adversity and still brings more light than darkness into our world, speaks out against social injustice but still has hope, sees the wonders around us and writes so eloquently about them to make us aware of how precious this planet is and how precious each of us is.  It was awesome to see every seat in the theatre filled and to stand with  every other member of the audience at the end to give him a rousing ovation.
