William Webb Ellis is the supposed inventor of rugby football. Wales took on South Africa today and lost by the slimmest of margins after hanging on heroically in the second half of the game.

Today is my long-departed dad's birthday and he would have been gutted.

Nevertheless it is a fine dank, cold miserable day to watch a bit of rugby on the TV.  And the All Blacks are about to take on France.
