Diary of an Edinburgher

Andalucia Day Seven

Today, our last full day in Spain, we were bussed up to the old town of Granada, where we walked around the wee cobbled lanes and meandered down to the cathedral and the town. We even had a coffee/vista stop half way. The view was of the Alhambra! An excellent nearby guitarist too. There do seem to be a lot of them in this town, and they're all good.

The chap standing in front of the graffiti had the most beautiful tenor voice. I took some sneaky shots of him as we walked by, but felt guilty and went back with €5 and took a proper shot. The guitarist in shade (in extras) got some of my shrapnel, and I had to hurry up the street to him while the group wandered on down the hill. He was worth all my puffing though.

I had to include a shot of our wonderful Granada guide over two days, Daniele. He was so knowledgable, and he hated crowds, so he'd always gather us round him and talk quietly, away from any rabble. I must read up about the history of the region - so interesting.

He left us after a tour of the cathedral, and we wandered back up one of the wee lanes to find a wee bar in the shade. A beer and delicious tapas- stir-fried vegetables and curried potatoes - and we were joined by two of our group, and so more beer and another round of different delicious tapas (grilled ham on toast) were partaken of. €6 each!

Later in the afternoon I had a wee rest back at the hotel while JR popped out to browse the nearby shops. She has instructions NOT to buy anything big - we cannot fit anything more in!! We will have to have a practice packing before we go out for dinner...

Dinner back up the hill in the old town tonight, overlooking the Alhambra! A treat-packed day indeed. With any luck, there will be a guitarist...

Back to Malaga tomorrow and home.

Bad news: Our flight is late in the evening, at the same time as the All Blacks are playing. :-(

Good news: I'll be home in time to see the Scotland match on Sunday! :-)

PS A wonderful evening meal in a magical setting. Check out our view in extras.
