Cosmeston Lakes, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan.

This  100 hectare area country park was once a limestone quarry which opened in 1880.It was originally owned by British Portland Cement and later, Blue Circle. It finally closed in 1969 and in 1978 it reopened as a country park with some areas being designated as SSSI because of its collection of rare and diverse plants and animal species. For me, the attraction is the fact that Kingfishers, Cormorants and Otters all reside here and I am determined to photograph all three!
