Press here

When we first came to look at the house here, we were most impressed to discover this wine press. Judging by its location in one of the little covered passageways in the village, it must have been for communal use. No idea if it's used at all now, but it is being looked after; the roof has been recently restored using the traditional material of woven reeds, and the press itself looks in working order. There are no vines here now; the area is essentially pastoral, with sheep pasture and fodder crops. However, the wine-producing area of Somontano is not far away -- I see some wine-tasting in our near future.

At lunchtime we continued our restaurant research. When we were in Aínsa in September, we stayed at the Hostal Los Pirineos; room and cafeteria were both good value, so we decided to try their menu del dia today. This was truly excellent value for money; three courses, wine, and bread for 13 euros, and the food, while basic, was well-chosen, correctly cooked, and nicely presented. I think we may have found our default canteen.

So has Mystère; I found a dead warbler on the lawn when we got back :(
