Loch Leven and its Castle

Today we cycled over 13 miles around Loch Leven. ( Thank you Lady F and HL for recommending this excellent excursion to us!)

The views, the weather, the birds, the gliders, walkers, runners and of course cyclists made this a most memorable circumnavigation of lowland Scotland's largest loch.

After a picnic lunch we were the sole occupants of the ferry voyage of one nautical mile from the boat house at Kinross to the castle on the island.

For decades we have seen this castle from the road and wondered about Mary Queen of Scots et al who have sallied to and fro this romantic fastness.

Today our wonder turned to amazement at the beauty, solitude and enrichment of such a couthy isle in the heart of the Kingdom of Fife!

My blip shows a view from the castle window with a hint of loch and hills beyond.
