Harvesting sea urchins

We all met up for a last meal in Santa Barbara before we head off back to UK tomorrow. We sat out on the little balcony of Brophy Brothers restaurant and ate excellent crab cakes and watched all the yatchs come in after a hard day at sea. The photo shows trucks loading up the cargo from fishing boats, huge nets full of hand picked sea urchins; by tomorrow evening they will be in Japanese restaurants. Altogether 4 large trucks were filled, no wonder our seas are are becoming depleted of sea life.
