Life of a bubble maker

Place for everything

Got caught at work tonight as the apparently they found some explosives left over from the last bridge site in the 60’s and had to perform a controlled explosion. This meant they had to close the road and rail bridge for an hour at 5pm for safety Doh.
At work we use lean manufacturing techniques. One of these is called 6s. This is short for Set, Sort, Shine, Standardise, Sustain and Safety. These are the English translation from the Japanese words where it was first introduced in Toyota. It is basically, sort out only the things you need. Tidy the place up so you can see if there are any issues. Have a place for the things you need. Make all the areas the same where possible / make things the same way every time and then sustain the new procedures. Here is the build area there we have only the tools we need in a shadow board so we can see what is missing at a glance. This could be my entry for this week’s theme.

The bridge opened in time for me to get back for a night of reality TV for a change. Strictly it takes two to watch and then the final of the Great British Bake Off. Don’t mind if Nadiya or Tamal wins providing its not smug Ian. Feeling shared by most of the followers in the office.
