A Real Treat!

Today me and my husband took a drive down to Reading to collect something we'd bought on ebay. I knew that Marco Pierre White's Yew Tree Inn was in Highclere which is not too far from Reading so, for a treat, I booked a table for two for us to have lunch there. We've always wanted to go after seeing it on one of Marco Pierre White's tv shows a few years back and we were not to be disappointed. Although the pub was very quiet in there, the food was sensational and not too expensive either. The same can't be said of the wine though!!! I had steak and ale pie with mash and kurly kale and my husband had cod and chips with homemade tartare sauce and mushy peas. Followed by lemon tarte and clotted cream for me and eton mess for my hubby. Each course was absolutely delicious and a compliment to the chef!! I doubt it was Marco himself cooking but that doesn't distract from the fact of the food being superb.
The service was excellent and the pub is beautifully decorated creating a wonderful atmosphere in a real oldy worldy pub.
Its a shame we don't live closer as it would be lovely to enjoy a meal there again sometime soon
