A Nice Day

One of my neighbors invited the entire neighborhood to stop by for a pot luck afternoon of conversation, saying hello to new folks and goodbye to those moving on.  This is one of the things I love so much about where I live -- there's a wonderful sense of friendship and neighborly interaction but it's not an invasive group of people.  We walk the streets in the evenings, with or without our dogs, and say hello to one another and we rally around anyone who needs some support but we don't smother.  There were some incredible food offerings which brought lots of smiles.  I took some lemon marengue miini-tarts -- (any excuse to bake something¡).  Our hosts provided baskets of hot, homemade donuts from a treasured family recipe.  All in all it was a very special afternoon.
